Jon Lovitz

Jon Lovitz
TUNICA, Miss. (Dec. 1, 2025) – Gold Strike Casino Resort, the Mid-South’s premier casino resort destination, will host acclaimed comedian, actor and “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) alumnus Jon Lovitz on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 8 p.m. at the Gold Strike Theatre inside the casino.

A beloved comedic talent for more than three decades, Jon Lovitz has built a celebrated career across television, film, theater and stand-up.

Lovitz got his big break after joining the famed improv troupe The Groundlings in 1982, earning a spot in the main company. In 1985, he debuted his now-iconic character Tommy Flanagan of the Pathological Liars Anonymous in a breakthrough, career-changing performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.”

The performance launched a wave of opportunities, including film, television roles, voiceover work and a cast position on “Saturday Night Live.” During his two seasons on SNL, he earned back-to-back Emmy nominations and created memorable characters such as Tommy Flanagan, Master Thespian, Hanukkah Harry and the Devil.

Lovitz has appeared in more than 40 films, including favorites such as “Big,” “A League of Their Own,” “The Wedding Singer,” “High School High,” “Small Time Crooks,” “Rat Race,” “The Producers,” “Eight Crazy Nights,” “The Benchwarmers,” “Grown Ups 2” and “The Ridiculous 6.” He has collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Penny Marshall, Rob Reiner, Jerry Zucker and Woody Allen, and is a frequent presence in Adam Sandler’s films. In 2024, he played leading roles in the films “The Toast” and “Happy Gilmore 2.”

On television, Lovitz has made memorable appearances on some of the most popular sitcoms of all time. He was the first celebrity guest star on “Friends,” appeared on “Seinfeld” the same week and held recurring roles on “Hot in Cleveland,” “Las Vegas,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Hawaii Five-0” and “New Girl.”

Lovitz is also recognized for his distinctive voice work, most notably as Jay Sherman in the cult-favorite animated series “The Critic” and in multiple episodes of “The Simpsons,” where he helped originate the character Artie Ziff.

Currently, Lovitz tours with his new musical comedy show, “From the Shower to the Stage,” created with renowned conductor and arranger Randy Waldman, Barbra Streisand’s longtime pianist and musical director.

Since 2003, Lovitz has also earned acclaim as a stand-up comedian, headlining major comedy venues, theaters and casinos across the United States and Canada.
